Spider-Man FCBD Comic No Longer Comes With Infinity Watch Story

Free Comic Book Day is almost upon us and fans are excited to see what their favorite publishers have in store for them. Unfortunately, it seems like Marvel might have dropped the ball a bit this year. Though the company usually releases two stories in one comic for FCBD, that doesn't appear to be the case this year.

Bleeding Cool has confirmed that Spider-Man FCBD will only have one story about Spidey and a recap regarding Infinity Countdown/Infinity Wars. This is very disappointing since fans were originally promised a story from Infinity Watch or Guardians of the Galaxy, with the latter playing a big part in Infinity Wars.

Now, this doesn't mean the free issue will be bad. The comic will debut the new creative team of Nick Spencer and Ryan Ottley. While the duo's "real" debut won't be happening until July, having a nice sampler like this is ideal. However, advertising an Infinity story that is now just a recap of recent events is pretty lame.

Marvel does have another offering for FCBD that should sound more appealing; an Avengers comic that also comes with a Captain America story. Both will feature the new Fresh Start creative teams of Jason Aaron and Sara Pichelli on Avengers, and Ta-Nehisi Coates and Leinil Yu for Captain America.

All of these comics will be available for free on May 5, during Free Comic Book Day.
