Rogue One: A Star Wars Story Details Scrapped Darth Vader Scene

Depending on who you ask, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is either the best or worst film that Disney and LucasFilm have released together. Strong visuals and an amazing third act are in its favor, while weak characters and a dull pace early on are cases against it. Even with films like The Last Jedi and The Rise of Skywalker, fans are still debating if Rogue One is a "good" film.

Speaking of that stellar third act, many fans loved it because we never got to see that side of Darth Vader in film before. Sure, we see him Force-Choke a few dudes and win a lightsaber duel here and there but to witness the former Jedi Master destroy soldiers with ease? It was a breathtaking sight. It turns out that we almost got a similar scene earlier in the movie, according to co-writer Gary Whitta.

On Twitter, when a fan asked if he wanted to do anything crazy for the Star Wars spin-off, Witta mentioned how Vader would have made his presence known early on in the beaches of Scarif. Witta then admits that fans eventually saw something similar with Vader's infamous corridor scene, something many Star Wars followers watch to this day.

Honestly, Vader's corridor/hallway scene should have been the only time we saw him in the movie. It's a real shame that Vader was advertised in advance and how they even tease him throughout the movie, which is really annoying. In a perfect world, Vader would only appear in that amazing climax and Thor: The Dark World wouldn't have shown us how Loki was alive because we all knew that.

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is now available on Blu-ray and the Disney+ streaming service.
