Rob Liefeld Stands By His Comments About Deadpool 3 Not Happening

Deadpool co-creator Rob Liefeld has been pretty blunt when it comes to his opinions about Deadpool 3 and how Marvel Studios isn't exactly making it a priority, likely due to whatever plans they have to keep up with their long-term continuity map. Many have assumed that Liefeld is just a creator greedy for money, attention, or both but the comic book artist and writer has revealed that he's simply an honest man with opinions who wants to see a third Deadpool film.

He also doesn't take back anything he's said about Marvel Studios and, to be fair, he shouldn't. People are entitled to what they think but when you post them online, people are going to twist your words no matter what is said. In fact, Liefeld wishes he lied about the movie's progress as he told io9 that it will always please the public.

"Do I know that there is no movement on a Deadpool 3 right now? I know that. Yes. And does that worry me? No. Not at all. What I did was I answered a question honestly. And what I learned this week is just lie. Just tell people everything is lollipop and unicorns and rainbows and you'll be better off in your life because people want to be lied to. Just because some guy goes, ‘Yeah, We're still moving along' that's code for ‘There's nothing to see here.'"

Liefeld's main frustration with Marvel Studios is that they have a hot R-Rated Property with Deadpool. The fact that Deadpool 3 is frustrating for him because he knows how small the public's attention is. Basically, he thinks that the R-Rated superhero movie will soon become an afterthought that no one will be talking about unless a movie is made right away.

"My whole thing is you get access to this franchise, go give it priority. And that's not me acting pretentious. That's me going ‘This is a pretty valuable commodity.' And I also have three teenagers and I see how fast their interests come and go and how everything is vying for their attention at all times."

This probably won't add any water to the gasoline Liefeld has apparently left on his Twitter but things will be fine. As the comic creator has stated, people have short attention spans and they should leave him alone sooner or later. Liefeld should definitely be allowed to state his opinion and keep it, though he should be aware that once it's online, people are going to say something about it. That's just how social media works Rob.

Deadpool 3 won't be coming out anytime soon.
