Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is going to be the final movie of this current trilogy and will definitely end the Skywalker saga. Obviously, there are still a lot of questions that fans have and one retcon they are hoping happens; the reveal of Rey’s parents. In The Last Jedi, it was revealed that Rey’s parents sold her so that they could have more money for drinking, which many felt was an anticlimax.

It appears that there will be more to her origin since actress Daisy Ridley spoke with Entertainment Weekly about The Rise of Skywalker, stating that there will be more to Rey’s parentage. Apparently, this will be less of Rey needing to know who her parents are and more on Rey wanting to understand the circumstances of what happened before she moves on.

Here’s what Ridley said:

“It's not that she doesn't believe it. She feels there's more to the story.  And she needs to figure out what's come before so she can figure out what to do next."

As one of the five people who enjoyed the twist about Rey’s parents, I hope they don’t focus too much on where she comes from. One great thing about The Last Jedi’s reveal is that it proves you don’t have to come from an established family to be special; anyone can stand out if you work hard. I really don’t need Rey to be related to someone important but that’s not what the majority of fans want.

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker comes out on December 20.
