After waiting a while, Pokemon International has finally released the English trailer to Pokemon the Movie: The Power of Us, which was known as Pokemon the Movie: Everyone's Story last year in Japan. Like many of us anticipated, this will be the sequel to last year's I Choose You, but with a new animation team that everyone has been praising thus far.
This is going to be a retelling of how Ash met Lugia, the legendary bird from Pokemon Silver. Prior to this, Ash first saw Lugia in Pokemon 2000, which is canon to the long-running anime. Since this is a sequel to the I Choose You movie, this will be a new continuity that has Ash meet a variety of new characters and allows him to have Pokemon that he hasn't had in the show.
We also see Ash riding a Tyranitar, which might make fans assume that he will be getting a new Pokemon. Ash will be teaming up with a number of trainers who will be saving a town after their annual Wind Festival is interrupted by something not shown yet. Still, this is the most we've seen out of the English dub, which has a few cringe-inducing lines but is decent overall.
In Pokémon the Movie: The Power of Us, Ash and Pikachu journey to a seaside city filled with a delightful cast of characters, including a young athlete, a compulsive liar, a shy researcher, a bitter old woman, and a little girl with a big secret. They're sure to encounter unique challenges and plenty of thrilling Pokémon battles while learning the value of teamwork and putting aside their differences.
Pokemon: The Power of Us will have some special screenings on November 24, 26, and 28. A final showing will go down on December 1.
