Pokemon Sword and Shield Expansion Pass Will Bring Back 200 Missing Pokemon

During the heavily touted Pokemon Direct, Game Freak announced the Pokemon Sword and Shield Expansion Pass, a first in the series and one that has divided some fans. The first-ever Pokemon DLC is going to make a lot of fans happy, as it adds more areas to explore, brings back 200 Pokemon that were not in the base game, and even adds some brand-new customization items for your trainer.

The Sword and Shield Expansion Pass will be divided into two parts: The Isle of Armor and The Crown Tundra. It costs $29.99 to own both parts, with certain Pokemon only being available in Sword or Shield. Depending on what game you own, there will also be a version-exclusive rival; poison-type waifu Klara for Sword and psychic-type weirdo Avery for Shield.

As expected, there will also be brand-new legendary Pokemon for both parts. The Isle of Armor gives players Kubfu, who evolves into Urshifu. In The Crown Tundra, fans will have the opportunity to catch Calyrex. The Crown Tundra will also introduce a co-op mode that will let players catch the legendary Pokemon of yore, including Mewtwo, Ho-Oh, Solgaleo, Lunala, and more.

Fans will be very happy to know that Venusaur and Blastoise will be returning, with Game Freak also revealing their Gigantamax forms. This also means that Bulbasaur, Ivysaur, Squirtle, and Wartorle will be returning to the game, which is good news all around. There will also be a number of fan-favorites like Lycanroc, Nidorino, Kingdra, and so much more.

The Pokemon Sword and Shield Expansion Pass can be pre-purchased now on the Nintendo Switch eShop. The Isle of Armor will be available in June while The Crown Tundra is getting an Autumn release.
