Pokemon Masters Adds Giovanni and Mewtwo as the First Legendary Sync Pair, With More to Come

Pokemon Masters might have its fans but the mobile game has been a bit disappointing lately since the story mode is pretty easy to complete and there isn't a lot of post-game content. The developers at DeNA have apologized for this and have promised more content in the coming months, with new stories planned for 2020 and beyond. They recently decided to announce some new Sync Pairs, including the game's first Legendary Sync Pair: Giovanni and Mewtwo.

That's right, the corrupt leader of Team Rocket and his experimented legendary are back at it again, though one has to wonder where this fits into the canon (does Pokemon even have a continuity?). The anime has put Mewtwo and Giovanni on opposite sides since the former didn't like being treated like trash while the latter wanted to keep using him as a weapon.

Admittedly, I don't really know their relationship in the games that much so this should be really interesting. At the least, this should get Mewtwo fans interested in the mobile game again now that their favorite legendary has appeared. More Sync Pairs are planned for release, including fan-favorite Elite Four member Lance and his Dragonite, Cynthia and Garchomp, and Grimsley and Liepard.

Currently, Pokemon Masters is available on iOS and Android as a free-to-play game. There are microtransactions to get some of the game's currency to get more Sync Pairs and training items that make your partners stronger.
