Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot just got more interesting, with the revelation of the Cell Saga and more playable characters, not to mention a couple of original scenarios and the inclusion of some fan-favorite material. We’re also getting more playable characters than expected, with the Cell Saga introducing Future Trunks to the game, who should be one of the more fun heroes to use.

While the Gamescom trailer mostly focused on Gohan and Goku, we now have some images of Future Trunks in the game. We get to see him in his iconic purple jacket/black tank top combo and in Super Saiyan form to boot. There’s also a good chance that we can play as Trunk in his Vegeta-like armor since he battles Cell for a brief period.

Anyone else hoping they let us play the epilogue where Trunks kills the Androids? That would be the cherry on a sundae.

Future Trunks is one of my favorite characters and I can’t wait to use him, especially when he kills Frieza at the beginning of the Android Saga. Ideally, it would also be awesome to play through The History of Trunks, which was a television special that detailed his origin. That’s probably DLC but I’m willing to be proven wrong (please prove me wrong Bandai Namco).

Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot comes out on PS4 and Xbox One in early 2020.
