New Dragon Ball Super Movie Will Take The Franchise in a Completely Different Direction

The excitement levels of fans knowing that a new Dragon Ball Super movie is over 9000, especially after Dragon Ball Super: Broly, which many say is the best film in the franchise. While most fans are hoping that the new film will have similar bombastic fights, which were wonderful in Broly, it turns out that might not be the case.

During an interview that was translated by fans, Dragon Ball Super: Broly producer Hayashida Norihiro and Dragon Ball editor-in-chief Akio Iyoku revealed preparations are underway for a new animated installment in the popular anime franchise. Iyoku further notes that the team plans to bring the story "in a completely different direction."

Sadly, this "completely different direction" wasn't detailed so we'll have to wait and see how this film will change the franchise. Maybe they will make Broly the lead character, something fans wanted after the release of that film, or perhaps they'll change the tone from fight anime to adventure/comedy anime, like the original Dragon Ball.

Whatever the case, fans have high expectations after Broly blew everyone away. From the fantastic fight scenes to the surprisingly well-done flashback sequence that let us learn more about the Saiyans, it felt like an eye-opener of a movie and made everyone love Dragon Ball even more than they originally did.

Dragon Ball Super: Broly is now available on Blu-Ray.
