Netflix's Locke and Key Details One Major Change From the Comics

Locke and Key is the next highly-anticipated comic book adaptation coming from Netflix and a lot of fans are excited. The original IDW published comic from creators Joe Hill and Gabriel Rodriguez is considered by many to be a classic so finally seeing it in live-action after a myriad of delays is pretty gratifying. However, like all adaptations, changes have to be made and a new video details one of the major ones the show had to do.

In the original comic book, you use the key on the lock in the back of your head to literally open up your head so people can see how you're thinking. It's a terrifying image from the comic that is also followed up by one of the nicest-looking visuals once we see what's exactly inside the head. This is why Rodriguez is such an acclaimed artist.

The show goes for a slightly more "realistic" take. You still put the key in the lock on the back of your neck but this then leads to a room in this house turning into your imagination/thoughts. It's an acceptable change that's pretty true to the comics, though many of us are going to miss the trippy imagery of the "unlocked" heads.

Still, this is looking to be another surefire hit from Netflix, especially after their adaptations of The Witcher and Umbrella Academy. We all have high expectations so let's hope that Locke and Key matches them.

Locke and Key will be coming to Netflix on February 7.
