Netflix CEO Tosses a Compliment to The Witcher, Teases Multiple Seasons

To say that The Witcher has been a success for Netflix would be a huge understatement. While the books had a fanbase and the video games were critically acclaimed, it's safe to assume that it was the Netflix Original series that helped this franchise break into the mainstream. In fact, it looks like we will be seeing more of the series soon as the Netflix CEO may have teased even more seasons after the already greenlit season 2.

During the company's latest earnings report, Netflix CEO Reed Hastings went out of his way to praise The Witcher for being one of their biggest franchises, stating that the show helped their service end 2019 on a high note. Considering how the series debuted on December 20, the same day as Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, that statistic is even more impressive.

One line that a lot of people are paying attention to is when Hastings mentions how the "massive new franchise that will develop season after season." The line "season after season" seemingly hints that we will be getting more than two seasons of The Witcher, which is pretty awesome if we're being honest.

While the show didn't debut to amazing reviews, The Witcher does have a huge fan base and is loved by a ton of viewers. Though many will agree that it starts slow, there's no denying how the show ends on a banger. Showrunner Lauren S. Hissrich already confirmed that the storytelling for upcoming seasons would be much easier to follow now that Season 1 has done a lot of the setting up.

Netflix's The Witcher is now available for streaming. No release date for The Witcher Season 2 has been revealed.
