Neil Gaiman Hopes That Netflix's Sandman Lives Up to the Comic's Legacy

Now that Netflix has confirmed that Neil Gaiman's Sandman is getting a live-action series, fan expectations are at an all-time high. Adaptations of Gaiman's works have been doing well, with Amazon's Good Omens getting a ton of great reviews and American Gods also fairly loved by viewers. Since many consider Netflix to be the king of these streaming services, we're hoping that Sandman lives up to the other shows.

Unsurprisingly, Gaiman is also hoping that the show lives up to the comic's legacy and went to Twitter about it. The author hopes that this series will stay true to the comics, which should be possible since he is part of the show's team. Hopefully, he can make sure that the changes made won't be too drastic or will feel complimentary to the graphic novels.

We're still waiting for casting announcements and a proper release date but that's expecting a lot. The series was just greenlit after all and they still have to manage their scripts, along with deciding who will play which character and when auditions will take place. Making shows isn't easy guys; you don't just put ideas into a machine and expect a show to come out.
