Mortal Kombat: Lewis Tan May Have Revealed His Character for the Movie

The upcoming Mortal Kombat movie has a lot of fans excited, with confirmation of an R rating and video game-accurate Fatalities. Kano, Sonya Blade, Scorpion, Sub-Zero, and Shang Tsung have all been cast, with more characters likely to be announced. Lewis Tan was also cast for the movie but we do not know who he will be playing as, though a behind-the-scenes photo he shared may have shown us his character.

Sharing an awesome image on Twitter, Tan shared a BTS photo of him doing a meditation pose while waiting for production. Fans immediately assumed that the character will be Kung Lao, as the pose looks eerily similar to that character's. With Tan claiming that he has a major role, there is no way he'll be a minor character like Reptile, who no one really wants to see unless he is an impressive grunt to fight.

Honestly, it looks like this Mortal Kombat reboot is shaping up really nicely. This could be a huge improvement over the corny one a lot of fans grew up with, though many of us do have fond memories of that movie. Then again, it could be horrible like that live-action Tekken movie, which was a major disappointment.

While I'm not a big Mortal Kombat fan (Dragon Ball FighterZ forever baby), this could be a really fun movie. If they take cues from the awesome games that NetherRealm Studios have made, it should be in good hands.

No release date for the Mortal Kombat reboot has been revealed. Mortal Kombat 11 is now available on PS4, Xbox One, PC, and Nintendo Switch.
