Mortal Kombat 11 Was 'Accidentally' Revealed During The Game Awards

During the Game Awards, Ed Boon was supposed to announce the nominees for Best Sports or Racing Game when the place "played the wrong footage." Rather than show the nominees, they ended up playing a trailer for the long-rumored and finally-confirmed Mortal Kombat 11 and it is bloodier than ever. Boon tried to tell us that this was a slip-up but we all knew better and it made for a somewhat humorous moment in a pretty solid game show.

You know what's not solid? The faces of Scorpion and Raven since the bloody trailer makes you think that their bodies are made out of paper or something. Paper filled with blood but paper still. This has always been what Mortal Kombat does and, for the most part, it should make fans very happy.

Surprisingly enough, Mortal Kombat 11 is currently slated for an April 23 release, which is 1.) a few days before Avengers Endgame shows and 2.) earlier than most people expected. There is a gameplay reveal coming in January, which will please those who were disappointed with this CGI trailer.

Fans have wanted to see this fighting game for the longest time and it seemed appropriate that we would finally get it in the Game Awards. Hopefully, the resulting gameplay doesn't disappoint and everyone has a gory good time. That's always how it is with these titles.

Mortal Kombat 11 comes out on April 23, 2019, for PS4, Xbox One, PC, and Nintendo Switch.
