Now that Venom is a box office success, all eyes are on the next film in Sony’s Marvel franchise; Morbius. Based on the Spider-Man character who has acted as both friend and foe, it will be played by Suicide Squad’s Jared Leto, though the actor is much more well-known for other films like Dallas Buyers Club. While details on the movie are slim, it looks like we’ll get to know some things soon as Leto has confirmed that production is starting real soon.
Leto updated his fans via Instagram, which was short and surprisingly restrained for the actor. Fans know how over-the-top the 30 Seconds to Mars singer can be, so seeing him not act like a faux vampire was a nice touch. For now at least.
Here’s hoping we don’t hear any news about Leto randomly biting his co-stars. Then again, wild antics like this supposedly sell the movie so who knows?
This is Leto’s second shot at a comic book character after fans had mixed opinions about his portrayal of The Joker in Suicide Squad. Then again, there are rumors that a Harley Quinn and Joker movie could be happening after Birds of Prey, so Leto could always go back to that villain.
Morbius is currently slated for a July 31, 2020 release.
