Marvel's Next Star Wars Arc Takes Place Before 'The Empire Strikes Back'

This month is a big one as Kieron Gillen, who has written Marvel's Darth Vader and Doctor Aphra will be leaving the mainline Star Wars ongoing comic. He took over from the original writer Jason Aaron and has been killing it since but Star Wars #67 will be Gillen's final issue. Greg Pak is set to take over with artist Phil Noto by his side and the writer's story, Rebels and Rogues, is an exciting one since it is set before The Empire Strikes Back.

Greg Pak, an experienced writer who has written numerous comic books for Marvel and DC, told StarWars.com that he is writing the Star Wars movie he always wanted to see. This will include every iconic character we know, like Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, Leia Organa, R2-D2, C3PO, and Chewie. They'll all be broken up into interesting teams, including an unpredictable one with Chewie and 3PO!

With Noto handling the art, this should be a visual treat that fans should want to pick up. Noto is no stranger to illustrating Star Wars since he did provide interiors for a Chewbacca mini-series and the first few Poe Dameron issues. It's going to be a gorgeous read and we can only hope that Noto draws a hundred or so issues.
