Marvel's Avengers Will Have a Full-Length Campaign at Launch, Despite Free Story Expansions

Developed by Crystal Dynamics, fans don't know how to feel about Marvel's Avengers. The trailer revealed during Square Enix's E3 press conference was pretty disappointing, though a lot of people did say that the demo was really impressive. In fact, some went as far to say that the trailer did a disservice to the actual game so here is hoping that a new video will fix our expectations.

Another thing fans are worried about is length. While free characters and missions were announced, this made gamers feel that the title would be short, with free expansions compensating for the lackluster length. That doesn't appear to be the case since Crystal Dynamics Creative Director Noah Hughes had this to say to WCCFTech about the game's possible length:

"We're committed to having a full action-adventure campaign. So even though we are expanding the game beyond launch, if you played Crystal Dynamics games in the past, the time it takes to get through the core campaign is often less than half of the content that you experience overall. There will be a lot of missions that are optional missions. And you can do them as you go along the campaign or you can wait till the end to sort of close out, finish everything out. But there's a lot of content. And it's not unlike games we've made in the past in that sense. But in this game, we've promised that at no additional cost, you'll get new heroes, and regions is something extra to look forward to."

Knowing that there will be a lot of side missions is a nice touch and definitely adds replay value, especially if you can switch characters. We'll have to wait and see if this will end up leading to a good game but we can only hope.

Marvel's Avengers will be coming out on May 15, 2020, for PS4, Xbox One, PC, and Google Stadia.
