Marvel's Avengers Voice Actor Comments on Fan Backlash in Regards to Character Designs

Marvel's Avengers has started gaining some momentum, thanks to several fans seeing a demo with actual gameplay. However, while people are gravitating towards Square Enix and Crystal Dynamics' new game, there are fans who are still critical over the character designs. Crystal Dynamics decided not to pull a Sonic the Hedgehog and keep the designs as is, maybe with an adjustment or two to make things better.

Troy Baker, who plays Bruce Banner and The Hulk on Marvel's Avengers, decided to comment on the character design controversy. Unsurprisingly, he sides with the developers and feels that fans overreacted to the designs when they first saw them. The voice actor brings up the basic complaints on these character models, like them not matching their MCU counterparts, and feels that they are going to deal with haters no matter what.

Here's what Baker said during the Manchester Comic-Con (via Push Square):

"We'll always be on someone's sh*t list, right? So when they launched the latest trailer and put it out there, the immediate backlash from fans was, ‘It doesn't look like Chris Evans! It doesn't look like Robert Downey Jr!' Well, you know who it does look like? It looks exactly like Iron Man. It looks exactly like Captain America. It looks exactly like Bruce Banner."
"For me, the second they showed me what Bruce looked like, I was like, ‘Oh, you stole from the Ultimates.' It looks 100 per cent like the guy from Ultimates. And I'm like, ‘That's my Bruce Banner. That's the guy that literally ate New York and cannot reconcile the guilt.'"

Marvel's Avengers will be coming out next year, on May 15, 2020.
