Marvel Announces Falcon and Winter Soldier Comic That Totally has Nothing to Do With Disney+

In a move totally not influenced by the upcoming Falcon and Winter Soldier series coming to Disney+, Marvel Comics has announced a comic book starring Falcon and Winter Soldier called, well, Falcon and Winter Soldier. The five-issue series was announced in Marvel's latest episode of The Pull List, which is where they have been hyping up their newest comics before their official solicitations.

And it's totally not influenced by Disney+ in any way. Not at all.

Okay, jokes aside, this comic was clearly commissioned to take advantage of the fact that one of the MCU Disney+ shows coming out is called Falcon and Winter Soldier. I might be snarky about this series happening but that doesn't mean it will be bad since comic books are a fairly entertaining medium. Hopefully, the comic gets people excited and does a decent enough job to distinguish itself from the show.

Here's the comic's solicitation from Newsarama:

An office of dead government agents. A gifted new killer. Two ex-Captain Americas...
When a dramatic attempt on the life of Bucky Barnes reunites him with Sam Wilson, the two old friends are plunged headlong into a race to uncover the new leader of Hydra before a mass casualty event announces the terror group's resurgence to the world. The clock is ticking...
Derek Landy (BLACK ORDER, SECRET EMPIRE: UPRISING) and Federico Vicentini (ABSOLUTE CARNAGE: MILES MORALES) team up for a pulse-pounding action spectacular!

This is an intriguing enough premise to get both of these characters to team-up and their interaction is going to be interesting. Neither of them has to worry about the mantle since both of them have already held the shield for an extended period of time. With Steve Rogers using the shield again, it should be a chill session between Falcon and Winter Soldier, if not for all the murder.

Falcon and Winter Soldier #1 (of 5) will be coming out this February.
