Mark Ruffalo Was Worried About Thor: Ragnarok 'Ruining' Thor and Hulk

Thor: Ragnarok might have been a "typical" MCU movie in terms of tone, plot, and villains but it was one that reveled in these conventions. Sure, it didn't break the mold of MCU movies, yet the film was filled with great action scenes, funny as hell jokes, and gave us development for Thor, which was later ignored by Avengers: Endgame but that's just me being negative (and right).

Since the film was much lighter in tone compared to the first two Thor movies, some fans felt that it was going too comedic, with others thinking that it was ruining the God of Thunder. They weren't the only ones since Chris Hemsworth confirmed to ComicBook.com that Hulk and Bruce Banner actor Mark Ruffalo was worried that Ragnarok was ruining their characters.

Here is how Hemsworth described Ruffalo's fear. Tessa Thompson's too:

"I remember Mark Ruffalo looking at me and saying, ‘Are we wrecking this movie? Are we destroying these characters?' Tessa was like, ‘What am I apart of? What am I doing?'"

In previous interviews, Hemsworth mentioned how much he wanted to break the mold with Ragnarok since he had become disillusioned with his role as the God of Thunder. Thankfully, Taika Waititi has been a breath of fresh air for the actor, which has allowed him to become more comedic and interesting. Ruffalo also had nothing to worry about since Ragnarok ended up being a huge success. Hopefully, this all carries through in Thor: Love and Thunder.

Thor: Love and Thunder comes out on November 5, 2021.
