Kevin Smith Sides With Disney over Spider-Man Debacle

The Spider-Man debacle is still going on, with fans blaming either Sony or Disney for the character no longer being a part of the MCU. It doesn't help that this comes after Spider-Man: Far From Home came out, which was much better than most of us expected. We can agree that both companies got greedy when it came to the character, with Disney wanting more money and Sony not wanting to spend more for their assets.

While most people are starting to see that Sony isn't at fault for refusing some of Disney's demands, Kevin Smith doesn't see it that way. During an episode of Fatman Beyond, he sided with Disney over what happened. Smith feels that it's Disney and Marvel Studios that made Spider-Man: Homecoming and Far From Home such successes so it's understandable that they wanted some more money.

"I loved what they were doing. They had a great thing f***in' going on, and some people are like, 'Disney is being greedy and shit.' I don't see it that way. I see it as, they did all the work, they made those movies earn a fuck-ton of dough, they got 5% and the toys. They're coming back to the table, they're asking for something more."

He's not completely wrong but you could also argue that Disney should have wanted more money from the get-go. Still, it's a regrettable situation and we're all hoping that they work on their issues since that cliffhanger has everyone wondering what's going to happen next.

Spider-Man: Far From Home will be re-released on August 29. Blu-ray details should be coming soon.
