Kevin Smith Discusses His Plans for Netflix's Masters of the Universe: Revelation

Netflix's Masters of the Universe anime called Masters of the Universe: Revelation, has a lot of people excited. This isn't a gritty reboot but a continuation of the ‘80s animated series but with updated character models and, presumably, better writing. Fans were also very pleased when it was announced that Kevin Smith would be the showrunner since he is a huge fanboy for a lot of these geeky things.

Speaking with Deadline, Smith revealed some more details about the upcoming anime series, though he's still pretty vague about it. This is pretty understandable since we don't even have a trailer or any promotional images to share. Still, you can tell that the showrunner is pretty excited to get this show on the road and we can't wait to check it out.

"I'm Eternia-ly grateful to Mattel TV and Netflix for entrusting me with not only the secrets of Grayskull, but also their entire Universe. In Revelation, we pick up right where the classic era left off to tell an epic tale of what may be the final battle between He-Man and Skeletor! Brought to life with the most metal character designs Powerhouse Animation can contain in the frame, this is the Masters of the Universe story you always wanted to see as a kid!"

Having this series revolve around a final battle between He-Man and Skeletor should be great since the entire franchise revolves around those characters. How they'll go from ‘80s cheese to a hardcore Castlevania-style anime has yet to be revealed but let's hope for the best.

Masters of the Universe: Revelation doesn't have a release date but will stream on Netflix.
