Kevin Feige Thought Thor: Ragnarok was Too Crazy to Advertise

Depending on who you ask, Thor: Ragnarok is either the funniest Marvel movie out there or the best Thor movie period. We know there's a small audience that prefers the first two Thor films but, come on guys, none of them can hold a candle to Ragnarok and most of us are happy that Taika Waititi will be returning for the fourth film, Thor: Love and Thunder.

Interestingly enough, Ragnarok was considered "too weird" for Kevin Feige to advertise at first, which he revealed during an interview with the New York Film Academy. It's a bit out there, looking more like a lost Guardian of the Galaxy sequel more than a traditional Thor film, and we can sort of see why Feige felt that way. Thankfully, Marvel Studios has a great advertising film and they proceeded to make some great trailers for this awesome movie.

"We have the greatest marketing department in the world at Disney right now, maybe in the history of movies, they're the greatest. Sometimes, we have a movie like Ragnarok, and we're like, 'We're trying something here and it's a little crazy, so good luck,' and then they deliver us the teaser that you see for Ragnarok, which is, 'He's a friend from work!', was essentially one of the first trailers they showed us. It was great, and it was amazing. Taika [Waititi], watching, went, 'Oh, we've got to make that movie!'"

This ended up working since Ragnarok is critically acclaimed, with most people agreeing that it's the best Thor film. It introduced lovable characters like Valkyrie and Korg, while also giving us one of the most intimidating Marvel films in Hela, who was played ravishingly by Kate Blanchett.

Fans can now check out Thor: Ragnarok on Disney+, Blu-ray, and DVD.
