John Cho Remains Optimistic for Star Trek 4 Despite Reports of The Movie Getting Shelved

Fans of the recent Star Trek films were heartbroken when reports surfaced about Paramount shelving Star Trek 4, which is basically a cancelation to those not in the know. While fans do have several Star Trek shows to look forward to in the future, not seeing Chris Pine's version of Captain Kirk will disappoint many. However, some fans are still optimistic about a fourth film happening, including John Cho, who plays as Sulu in these movies.

During an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Cho stated that the movie won't be happening but he feels that someone will eventually get on the same page and make it happen. That's a bit naive from Cho but it's not the worst thing to say since a lot of people do want this sequel to be made. In fairness, he admits that he might be too optimistic but you shouldn't hate anyone for having hope.

"It is not happening right now as far as I know, but I just think it will happen. Somebody at some point, we'll all get on the same page and we will do it…That's my belief. Maybe I am being optimistic. To me, it is just a significant part of American popular culture. I just don't see how it goes away forever."

Now that Star Trek 4 has been shelved, the only film in this franchise fans have to look forward to is that R rated one from Quentin Tarantino. That has a lot of fans excited, though one has to wonder if his style can mesh with the series. We'll have to wait and see.
