Joaquin Phoenix Wins Golden Globe for Joker but Most of His Speech is Censored

To the delight of many, Joaquin Phoenix ended up winning the Best Actor Golden Globe for his wonderful performance in Joker. While fans will remember his performance for a long time, it looks like they also won't be forgetting his odd speech during the 2020 Golden Globes. If it weren't for the shocking opening remarks from Ricky Gervais early on, this would have been the most shocking thing in the show.

As it stands, this is only one of the most surprising moments from the controversial 2020 Golden Globes.

Phoenix gave us a speech that appreciated how the Golden Globes had vegan food as a way to acknowledge what's been happening to the animals in Australia while also swearing up a storm. No joke, at least half of his speech was censored during the Golden Globes, saying the F-word a lot and even pointing out how there really isn't a "Best Actor" award, pointing out how it's just a marketing gimmick.

His Joker co-star Robert DeNiro had quite the reaction, as did the internet. Needless to say, the speech has a lot of people talking and it's going to be interesting to see how the movie does during Oscar season, which will probably have its own set of controversies. However you feel about the Joker movie, it definitely deserves some nominations and we can only hope that Joaquin Phoenix's actions don't affect the film's standing.

Joker will be coming to Blu-ray on January 7.
