James Gunn Hilariously Responds to Fans Who Want to See Batman in The Suicide Squad

Call it an unofficial sequel or a pseudo-reboot but The Suicide Squad has definitely got fans excited, especially with Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn working on it. Weirdly enough, there are fans who just want more Batman for the next Suicide Squad movie, making many of us roll our eyes. Gunn decided to answer these fans in the funniest way possible via his Instagram stories.

With the number of questions he received, Gunn took a screenshot over it and edited in a fun little advertisement for Matt Reeves' The Batman, telling fans that if they want more of the Dark Knight, they should just wait for that movie. He's definitely not wrong in that regard and fans who want more Batman shouldn't expect it in his movie, which is literally called The Suicide Squad, a group Batman fights but isn't associated with.

Are we saying that Gunn's first DC film won't feature any sign of Batman whatsoever? It's hard to say. While the first film did feature Affleck's Batman in a couple of scenes, we can't tell if Gunn will tell a story that requires the Dark Knight in any way. Admittedly, it would be cool to see Robert Pattinson's Batman appear in this movie but it can't be anything more than a cameo.

The Suicide Squad will be coming to theaters on August 6, 2021. This comes out after Matt Reeves' The Batman, so we could see a cameo if time or Gunn permits it to be.
