Iron Man 3 Actress Claims That Her Character Almost Had a Bigger Role

Iron Man 3 has been making the rounds in social media lately, with fans wondering if it's the worst MCU movie or if it's actually Thor: The Dark World. Of course, the real answer is that Iron Man 3 is better than people give it credit for and is not only better than The Dark World but is also superior to films like Iron Man 2, The Incredible Hulk, Captain Marvel, Ant-Man, and so much more.

Anyway, it turns out that actress Rebecca Hall, who played Maya Hensen in the controversial film, stated that her character almost has a better arc. In the movie, she just ended up being the lackey to Aldrich Killian but it turns out that there was a draft where Maya does try to redeem herself and makes a sacrifice, which seems to be the only way for villains to die heroically.

"Yeah! She was meant to be a sort of – oh god, I can't even remember probably now. In the first script that I read she was in it to the end and she created whatever that serum-y thing was and then she sort of saved it by doing an act of martyrdom at the end and there was a whole like, she was evil but then she tries to be good at the end situation. It was a better part."

Fans who have read the Iron Man: Extremis arc know that Maya Hensen played a pretty big role in the story, seemingly being set up as a possible partner for Tony before being revealed as the true culprit and villain. Extremis was a dangerous experiment that wasn't ready for the public but she and Killian let it out to test what it can do, with Tony having to fix it. She was then killed in the first Marvel NOW arc of Iron Man by people who wanted to use Extremis again.

Iron Man 3 is now available on digital stores and Blu-Ray.
