Injustice Writer Will Relaunch Suicide Squad This December

After some not-so-subtle hints from writer Tom Taylor, DC Comics has accidentally announced that the writer will helm a Suicide Squad relaunch with artist Bruno Redondo. These two made magic together when creating the Injustice 2 prequel comic and it's going to be fun seeing them reunite with a series that is actually canon to the DC universe. Also, the sentence on top was not a typo; DC Comics accidentally announced the news before The Hollywood Reporter was supposed to (thanks to Bleeding Cool).

This accidental leak aside, Suicide Squad will keep Harley Quinn and Deadshot, who have been the faces of this comic, and they will be recruiting some new members. As the cover below shows, King Shark will be a part of this, likely due to James Gunn's The Suicide Squad, though he has been a member of this group before.

Here's what Taylor had to say about the upcoming series, confirming that no one will be safe, which has been this series' M.O. since the ‘80s:

"Truly, no one is safe, there's a new regime, and this regime sees this team as assets and nothing more. They don't care if they lose them in the field, they can always get more, and they DO get more."

While I'm not a huge fan of the group, Taylor's writing will get me to buy this comic. Aside from Injustice and Injustice 2, Taylor has written a number of excellent comic books like All-New Wolverine, X-Men Red, Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, and so much more. Basically, if you haven't read his work before, rectify that.

Suicide Squad #1 will be coming out on December 18. The first issue will be 40-pages and is going to cost $4.99, the industry-standard these days.
