Gwyneth Paltrow Retires From the Marvel Cinematic Universe

While Chris Evans has hinted at leaving the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Gwyneth Paltrow has beaten him to the punch and has officially announced that she is leaving the cinematic universe soon. This is pretty shocking since many have associated her with Pepper Potts for the longest time and nobody can blame them since she has done a fantastic job with the character.

Paltrow told Variety that she is basically done having a full-time contract with the MCU, stating that she is too old to wear a suit that these kinds of films require. While she is leaving, Paltrow is grateful for the opportunity she has been given and credits her friendship with Iron Man director Jon Favreau for it.

Here is what Paltrow had to say about the MCU:

"I mean, I'm a bit old to be in a suit and all that at this point. I feel very lucky that I didit, because I actually got talked into it. I was friends with [Iron Man director] Jon Favreau. It was such a wonderful experience making the first Iron Man and then to watch how important it has become to fans."

Though she won't be committing to a full-time MCU contract again, it seems like she is willing to do a cameo or two as long as it isn't too time-consuming for her. We've seen her do this before with Spider-Man: Homecoming so it wouldn't be too problematic if she has a few more in future movies.

"I feel honored to be a part of something that people are so passionate about. Of course, if they said, ‘Can you come back for a day?,' I will always be there if they need me."

Paltrow is expected to appear in Avengers: Endgame, though it's not clear how big of a role she is going to have. Hopefully, we get to see her as Rescue before Paltrow departs the MCU.
