Gotham Knights and Marvel's Avengers Have a Lot More in Common Than You Think

The long-awaited Batman game from Warner Bros. Montreal is Gotham Knights and, funnily enough, it doesn't have Batman at all. Instead, we're getting a new game in a new universe - this ain't after Arkham City folks - where Batman is presumed dead (sure) and Gotham must now be protected by Batgirl, Nightwing, Robin, and Red Hood. On the outset, it looks like an Arkham Asylum-style game with two-player co-op but once talks of customizable gear and it being a live service-type title were revealed it started resembling another superhero game.

Yeah, it looks like Gotham Knights is going to be fairly similar to Marvel's Avengers, though that isn't a bad thing.

First, the gameplay trailer showed that this game will probably have more variety than Marvel's Avengers since there will seemingly be an open-world Gotham to explore. It also looks like we won't just have combat and stealth since the first trailer showed several obstacles designed for the characters so that's already a bit more variety.

Still, fans aren't all that accepting over Gotham Knights having loot and forcing players to think about the gear they put on. The fact that enemy hits have numbers coming out basically confirms this game having RPG elements so we hope that they handle these bits elegantly. Still, Arkham City and Arkham Knight let you choose costumes and play without worrying about these things so this is a bit concerning.

Gotham Knights is currently slated for a 2021 release and will be a cross-gen game. It will be coming out on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC.
