Giant-Size X-Men #1 is Getting Remade in Awesome Marvel-Made Tribute

Giant-Size X-Men #1 will forever be looked at as a monumental occasion for Marvel Comics, as it re-introduced one of Marvel's quirkier superhero teams and made them a household name. It gave us iconic characters like Nightcrawler, Colossus, and Storm, while re-introducing Cyclops, Wolverine, and Jean Grey, then known as Marvel Girl, to fans who never picked up the then-canceled X-Men comics.

More than 20 years later and Marvel Comics has decided to give us one hell of a tribute with the aptly-named Giant-Size X-Men: Tribute to Wein and Cockrum #1. This is going to be one hell of a project that will have 37 comic book artists remaking one page each of the original Giant-Size X-Men, all of which will be compiled into an exciting one-shot coming out in May.

Newsarama has confirmed that the artists for this one-shot will include Alex Ross, Carmen Carnero, Mark Brooks, Kevin Nowlan, Chris Samnee, Marcus To, Siya Oum, Stephen Segovia, Marguerite Sauvage, Bernard Chang, Aaron Kuder, Takeshi Miyazawa, Juan Cabal, Gurihiru, Kris Anka, Phil Noto, Valerio Schiti, Leinil Francis Yu, Matteo Lolli, Ema Lupacchino, Carlos Gomez, Iban Coello, R.B. Silva, Ramon Rosanas, Joshua Cassara, David Baldeon, Marcelo Ferreira, Javier Garron, Rod Reis, Javier Rodriguez, Marco Checchetto, Jen Bartel, Mike Del Mundo, Rahzzah, Pepe Larraz, and Mike Hawthorne.

That's a hell of a lot of talent, most of whom have worked on X-Men projects in the past so this is looking like an amazing tribute to this classic comic. Granted, you could argue that this is more exploitable nostalgia from Marvel Comics but we'll let it slide this time since the idea has so much merit.

Giant-Size X-Men: Tribute to Wein and Cockrum #1 will be coming out on May 27.
