Gail Simone Offered to Write a Birds of Prey Ongoing to Coincide With the Movie

Harley Quinn: Birds of Prey might have underperformed in the box office but it was able to make all of its money back, minus all the marketing costs, and is a huge hit with fans and critics alike. It really is a shame that the DCEU movie didn't do too well, though the movie could make more money in the following weeks so let's hope that happens.

In the meantime, fans have some new Birds of Prey comics to look forward to, including a big one-shot and a mini-series, both of which are under the Black Label line of DC Comics. That being said, fans are wondering why there isn't an ongoing comic to coincide with the movie, which would have gotten the attention of a lot of comic book-reading fans.

Well, Birds of Prey veteran Gail Simone revealed that she actually pitched a new ongoing series that would have coincided with the movie's release, or, at the least, come out sometime before the film. It's a shame that she ended up not doing the comic, though she did write a story in Birds of Prey Giant #1, which could still be collected in graphic novel form.

Still, given her previous work with the Birds of Prey, it would have been nice to see a new ongoing comic. Hopefully, we get one soon, whether it's with Gail Simone or another good comic creator.

Harley Quinn: Birds of Prey is now showing in theaters.
