Free Detective Pikachu 3DS Demo Lets Players Carry Over Saved Data to Full Game

Fans have had mixed thoughts on the Detective Pikachu 3DS game since it was announced. Things got even weirder when it was revealed that we would be getting a movie based on the game, with Deadpool star Ryan Reynolds playing as the titular Pokemon. It's definitely an odd concept to base a game around, let alone a whole movie.

While the game is now available for anyone with a 3DS to purchase, those on the fence about it can try out a demo first. Those with the console can download the demo for free on the eShop and can carry over their progress if they decide to buy the full game.

It's a great way to get gamers interested in the title and could even ensure more buys for it. The game is an odd duck for sure but having a demo helps since it lets players try it out and see if they like it. Other 3DS demos have also given players the luxury of doing this, like Alliance Alive and Monster Hunter Stories.

Detective Pikachu is now available on the 3DS. The movie of the same name comes out on May 10, 2019.
