First Stargirl Trailer Details Her Origin and Name-Drops the Justice Society

After a blunder of a teaser that didn't reveal much, DC Universe and The CW have revealed the first official Stargirl trailer. Unlike the teaser, which barely showed us anything, this one gives us a rundown of the character's origin and our first look (maybe our last look too?) at Joel McHale as Starman. This looks in line with what we might expect from a DC/CW show, for better or worse and we do get confirmation that the Justice Society exists.

It's a short trailer too, lasting for about a minute and doesn't really spoil much of the show, outside of her origin and the death of Starman. The production values look similar to previous DC/CW shows, which isn't a bad thing when you consider how long they've lasted and all the high-profile events that have come out since, including the current Crisis on Infinite Earths event.

Stargirl's story seems pretty simple since she just inherits the staff of her father and gets awesome superpowers out of it, though the real test will be how she uses them. With great power comes great responsibility and all that jazz so we'll probably see Stargirl, real name Courtney Whitmore, struggle a bit before getting a grasp at this whole superhero thing.

Plus, the show is also expected to introduce other young heroes who will join Stargirl as part of a new Justice Society. They'll probably be introduced in the second or third episode, though they could always surprise us and bring them in on the first. We'll have to wait and see.

DC Universe's Stargirl will debut on the streaming service in Spring 2020. Each episode will then air on The CW a day after it broadcasts on DC Universe.
