Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster on Switch Has Another Controversial Inconvenience

When it was announced that the US copy of Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster for Switch would have a digital code for X-2, fans were pretty annoyed. Things got even more controversial when the Asian version of the game would have both games in one cartridge, not having a need for the digital code. As if that wasn't enough to grind your gears, fans have recently discovered that they need the cartridge to play X-2, even though it's already a downloadable code.

According to fans on Reddit, despite the hefty download, fans will still need to keep the cartridge on to play both games. This is really annoying for those who were hoping they could play X-2 without the cartridge on, which is usually what's promised when games have digital codes in them.

Bundles like the Resident Evil: Revelations collection, Bayonetta 2 + 1, and the Mega Man X Legacy Collection offered codes that would let gamers play the downloaded titles separately. This is the first time a Nintendo collection would require a cartridge to make a downloadable game playable. It's an odd move.

Fans are better off getting the Asian version of Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster. Both versions are now available in game stores everywhere, depending on your region. The collection is also available on PS4, PS3, Xbox One, and PC.
