Ellen Page Has Enrolled For Netflix's Umbrella Academy

Netflix just bagged a major star for the upcoming live-action adaptation of Umbrella Academy. Variety has learned that Ellen Page will be playing one of the series' leads, which should get fans of the actress excited. While we still don't have a proper release date for the series, aside from a vague 2018 release window given during its first press release, this is a big step forward for the adaptation that many comic book fans are ballistic over.

Ellen Page will be playing Vanya, the only member of her family who doesn't have any superpowers. She's considered the black sheep of an already dysfunctional family, though her help will be needed to find out who murdered her super-powered father. Expect plenty of arguments and drama, along with fiery outbursts thanks to the extraordinary abilities her family has.

This isn't the first time we've seen Page in a comic book adaptation. She portrayed Kitty Pryde in X-Men: The Last Stand and X-Men: Days of Future Past, though Page will be playing a much bigger role in Umbrella Academy. No other characters have been cast as of this writing, though that could change now that a star of Page's caliber has joined.

Umbrella Academy is based on a series of graphic novels published by Dark Horse Comics. The series is written by My Chemical Romance vocalist Gerard Way, who has since had a great career in comics and drawn by acclaimed artist Gabriel Ba. The series will supposedly come out in 2018.
