Dynasty Warriors Developers Want To Make A Star Wars Game

Koei Tecmo has been known for the Dynasty Warriors series and the occasional licensed spinoff that uses the Warriors engine. We've seen popular franchises mixed with Warriors gameplay like Gundam, Legend of Zelda and One Piece from the company but there is one elusive IP that Koei Tecmo is hoping to work on; Star Wars. This isn't a huge surprise since pretty much every game company wants to make a video game based on the popular film series and to be honest, the franchise would mix well with the gameplay.

Hisashi Koinuma, the president of Koei Tecmo, recently spoke with GameSpot about the company's recent success thanks to games like Nioh. Koinuma also discussed the Nintendo Switch and how Koei Tecmo will be bringing a number of games to the console, like Attack on Titan 2 and a port of One Piece Pirate Warriors 3.

Before ending his discussion, Koinuma brought up how the company wants to make a Star Wars game:

"I'm always saying this, but I think Star Wars has been really successful and I would love for us to make that game."

Considering how the prequel films had Jedi tear down through drones like paper, this would be an ideal mix. It wouldn't be too hard to imagine characters like Luke and Rey tear through some stormtroopers in a Dynasty Warriors-like fashion. This would also be ideal for villain characters like Darth Maul and Kylo-Ren, who would utterly destroy their foes with cool looking moves.

EA currently has the license to produce Star Wars games, so fans will be stuck with Battlefront titles for a while. Hopefully, EA works on more varied Star Wars titles in the future.
