Dragon Ball Super's MVP Android 17 Joins Dragon Ball FighterZ Later This Month

If you were aware of the leaks that plagued Dragon Ball FighterZ, then it's no surprise that Android 17 is the last DLC character; at least for now. V-Jump magazine has officially confirmed that the Tournament of Power participant is going to be part of the FighterZ roster. He will be released in September, along with Cooler who was the last DLC character announced before 17.

Unlike 18, who fights and dresses like she's from the Android Saga, 17 is based on his Super iteration, so he's a park ranger. V-Jump detailed some of his super attacks, including his level-3 Meteor Attack, which actually doesn't come from the anime or manga. Most of the game's moves are partially inspired by the manga or anime, so this is quite different.

Prior to his DLC inclusion, 17 could only be seen as a part of 18's attacks. She can call him for some assists, which can lead to a lot of combo opportunities. He also appears in her level-3 Meteor Attack, though he can be replaced with Krillin if players add him to the same group with 18. 17 also appears in the third story arc of the game that focuses on the Androids and even speaks a number of times during the cutscenes.

After surprising everyone in Super, fans are more than happy to have 17 in the game. They're probably even happier that we aren't getting Super 17 from Dragon Ball GT, though that is just another topic entirely. In all seriousness, the former villain showed so much character in the final Super arc that it was hard not to warm up to him. The fact that he ended up winning the tourney was a great way to end an, admittedly flawed arc that had plenty of fighting.

Dragon Ball FighterZ is available now on PS4, Xbox One, and PC. The Nintendo Switch version will be coming out later this month, on September 28.
