Doug Liman Says Edge of Tomorrow 2 Script is Finished

It's a shame that Edge of Tomorrow wasn't a huge hit in the box office since it was a ridiculously fun action movie with plenty of imagination, memorable moments, and comedy. The first movie seemed to be a self-contained story that didn't need any more follow-ups but there has been a lot of talk surrounding Edge of Tomorrow 2. Well, it looks like the sequel will be coming sooner rather than later since director Doug Liman confirmed that the script is done.

During an interview with ComicBookMovie, Liman stated that the Edge of Tomorrow 2 script is ready for Tom Cruise and everyone else. Liman is hoping that they can start production once Cruise is done with Mission Impossible 8. In the meantime, we'll have to wait and see if this sequel gets made or not.

Based on the Japanese novel All You Need is Kill, Edge of Tomorrow revolves around Major William Cage, who gains the ability to restart his life from the time he was forced to join the forces fighting aliens. He soon teams up with Sergeant Rita Vrataski, who also had the ability until a blood transfusion removed it. Throughout several attempts, they manage to save the world.

How a sequel will work is going to be hard to imagine since Edge of Tomorrow had a fairly self-contained story. As long as it remains creative and fun, most fans won't mind Edge of Tomorrow 2. As of this writing, no release date has been revealed.
