Don't Expect Cyberpunk 2077 Switch Release Despite Recent The Witcher 3 Port

Cyberpunk 2077 is looking to be one of the best current-gen RPGs coming out next year and is going to be looked at as an incredible send-off to the current gaming generation. With both the PlayStation 5 and Project Scarlet set for Holiday 2020, expect games for the PS4 and Xbox One to lessen (not for the Switch though, that's going to get a ton of titles till it dies).

So, with The Witcher 3 coming to Nintendo Switch later this week, is there any chance for a Cyberpunk 2077 Switch port? In the words of CD Projekt Red's John Mamais, probably not.

During an interview with GameSpot, Mamais stated that anything is possible now that an RPG like The Witcher 3 is now on Switch. However, thinking realistically, Mamais then said "probably not" because the game might just be too powerful for this handheld/console combination. Looks like we'll have to wait for the next Switch before we get Cyberpunk 2077 on a handheld.

"Who would have thought a game like The Witcher 3 would be possible on Switch, so who knows? I guess we'll see, if we decide to put it on the Switch, if we can do it. Probably not."

Though the Switch can handle powerful games like Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Super Mario Odyssey, and now, The Witcher 3, something like Cyberpunk 2077 is a bit much. That game oozes technology and graphical fidelity, which the Switch might have a hard time processing. Then again, with Outer Worlds coming to Switch, anything could happen.

Cyberpunk 2077 comes out on April 16, 2020.
