Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness Will Start Production Soon Despite Director Exit

The hearts of many Marvel fans broke when Scott Derrickson left the director's chair of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. While he will be staying on as a producer, Derrickson's presence will be missed since his directing gave us some of the best visuals we've ever seen in a Marvel movie.

Many fans anticipated a delay in the movie of some sort but it looks like that won't be happening since Production Weekly (via ComicBook.com) confirmed that the sequel is still on track for shooting this May.

We're going to assume that Marvel Studios is already well on its way to courting a potential new director for the Doctor Strange sequel since May is only a few months from now. The company has been able to pull miracles out of their butts before, look at the production hell known as Ant-Man, but losing a director is always a bit demoralizing.

Considering how Marvel Studios plans out their movies, we're going to assume that everyone there already knows the story of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and how it will affect the MCU. The company definitely knows how to plan in advance but they do still need directors to make sure their movies are done well.

Plus, directors usually help Marvel movies find their own identity, with movies like Guardians of the Galaxy, Thor: Ragnarok, and even the first Doctor Strange differentiating themselves from other superhero movies. Let's just hope for the best eh?

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness will be coming out next year, on May 7, 2021.
