Director of Canceled EA Star Wars Game Reacts to Jedi: Fallen Order Reveal

The first trailer to Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order was interesting, to say the least. After EA went on record in saying that single-player games don't sell, the company has done a 180 with this title, since it's a single-player game with no form of multiplayer or microtransactions. There will probably be DLC but that's a lesser evil that fans are more willing to allow since it means more gameplay for them.

Interestingly enough, Amy Hennig of Uncharted fame was once working on a single-player Star Wars game that would have had no microtransactions. Her project was eventually shut down, along with the studio working on the game, so many were curious about Hennig's reaction to this new game, especially with EA touting out all that single-player hype.

Here's what Hennig told Eurogamer:

"This is all speculation on my part, I don't know why the change of heart happened, because that was very clearly not an acceptable plan when we were working on Ragtag! But you know, things change. [The decision to cancel Ragtag] was made in summer 2017. We found out in October 2017. So that's almost two years ago, and a lot has changed in that time, and there's been a pretty public and vocal backlash against the idea gamers don't want single-player finite games without all these extra modes. Of course they do, of course we do. So maybe this is just a demonstration of a change of strategy for EA."

With some of us thinking that she would be petty about it, fans are probably pleased to see her take the high road and be more open about these changes. Granted, we would have loved to see more of Ragtag but here is hoping Jedi: Fallen Order ends up being a good game.

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order comes out on November 15.
