David Ayer Says His Suicide Squad Would be Easy to Fix After 'Edward Scissorhands' Treatment

Now that Zack Snyder's Justice League, aka the Snyder Cut, has become a reality, fans are now hoping that Warner Bros. and DC will do the same thing for Suicide Squad and release an Ayer Cut. It's public knowledge that Ayer's Suicide Squad was essentially butchered by execs, which led to the movie being more generic than fans wanted. Director David Ayer revealed some of the changes made from his version and he's now discussing how easy it would be to complete his Ayer Cut.

On social media, Ayer talks about how it wouldn't take too long for him to complete the Ayer Cut of Suicide Squad after executives gave it the "Edward Scissorhands treatment," as he puts it. While he's been a good little soldier about the version we got in theaters back when it was released, Ayer has been more vocal about the forced changes made since then.

Considering how the Ayer Cut of Suicide Squad was going to have a different ending for Harley and more of Jared Leto's Joker in it, we are actually quite curious about this version of the film. People like comic book writer Jimmy Palmiotti have confirmed that this cut of the movie did exist at one point and fans are hoping that it can come into relevance again, thanks to all of the buzz that Zack Snyder's Justice League has gotten.

Then again, with James Gunn's Suicide Squad coming out next year, an Ayer cut might not be necessary. We'll have to wait and see if the Guardians of the Galaxy director can make a good DC movie but here's hoping that it's a fun watch.

Suicide Squad is now available in digital stores. The Suicide Squad is coming out in August 2021. Zack Snyder's Justice League is coming to HBO Max next year at an undetermined date.
