Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time Has Microtransactions and Fans Aren't Happy

Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time is a game many of us are looking forward to since plenty of players have missed the comedic, yet challenging platformers of yore. Crash Bandicoot 4 looks like the sequel fans want and then some, with intriguing power-ups, great graphics, and some self-aware writing that could be hit-or-miss. However, this is a game from the greedy hands of Activision and their fingerprints were bound to show up.

That day has come as a listing from the Microsoft Store has revealed in-game purchases will be in Crash 4. Yup, an E-rated platformer aimed at children and the children at heart will be getting those dreaded microtransactions, though for what we don’t know. Currently, the game has some exclusive costumes for Crash and Coco Bandicoot for those that get the digital version but they could be re-released as in-game purchases.

 

 

We’ll probably get a number of skins and maybe even Wumpa Fruit that will likely be bought with real money, though they might slide this under the rug by claiming fans can earn these through gameplay. This is hardly surprising if it were to happen since a number of gaming companies have done these actions a lot, including good old Activision.

Unfortunately, this isn’t the first time we’ve seen Crash Bandicoot succumb to microtransactions. Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled was controversial for adding microtransactions after the game has been out for a number of weeks, which really ticked off everyone. The fact that they did this after CTR had gained critical acclaim was a particularly low move by Activision and seeing them do the same for this is just...ugh.

Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time will be coming to PS4 and Xbox One on October 2.
