Chris Miller Talks Using MCU Approach for Upcoming Spider-Man TV Universe

Chris Miller and Phil Lord have gained a lot of positive traction over the years, thanks to films like 21 Jump Street, Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs, and The Lego Movie. However, even with all of that, fans were surprised with the quality of Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. Sony ended up greenlighting a sequel and a number of spin-offs, plus some new shows that feature some of the Marvel characters the company is allowed to use.

Miller is producing a number of these Spider-Man tv shows and he told Deadline that they will all be interconnected, whilst also being standalone. That's an approach the Marvel Cinematic Universe has been taking and mostly succeeds in so it's easy to see why Miller would want to take a similar approach.

"We are developing a handful of live-action shows using Sony's Marvel characters, of which there are like 900 characters. We're figuring out a way to develop the shows so that each are their own unique experience but are also related."

Sadly, Miller did not disclose which characters would be getting their own shows, though them being Sony-related means that they have to be from Spider-Man's side of the pond. Venom and Morbius are out of the question, thanks to their movies but we could see Spider-Girl and The Prowler get a show.

No release date for Miller's Spider-Man shows has been revealed. Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse is now available on Blu-Ray, DVD, and digital. The animated flick is also streamable on Netflix.
