The advertisement for Captain Marvel has been fairly interesting, as they teased her being the most powerful hero in the MCU whilst keeping a lot of things secret. Some of these are obvious, like her origins, how she ends up with the Kree, and her memories of Earth but there are still a lot of things that are left in the dark, like who Jude Law’s character is, though many of us have assumed that he is Mar-Vell.

Well, it seems like the official Captain Marvel website (via ComicBook.com) is sick of keeping secrets as one of the images flat out tells us that Law is indeed Mar-Vell. The photo describes the image as follows: “Jude Law as Mar-Vell, the leader of Star Force.” This was the obvious choice for Law’s character and fans will probably be happy that the character is making his live-action debut unless he turns heel.

Fans are probably wondering if this is an accident or just a stealth announcement. When you consider how tight-lipped everyone was about this, it seems like the former.

It would be cool if we see Law in Mar-Vell’s green helmet since Carol has one for both of her costumes. Since he is the leader of Star Force, Carol might admire him greatly and base her superhero alias of his name, just like in the comics. There could also be a romance between them like in the comic books but we’ll have to wait and see.

Captain Marvel comes out on March 8, 2019. This isn’t expected to be Brie Larson’s last 2018 appearance as Carol Danvers since she is slated to return in Avengers: Endgame.
