Brightburn Writers 'Sort Of' Working On a DC/Vertigo Movie

Brightburn has gotten a number of positive reviews thus far, proving that superhero films can dive into horror well. We'll have to wait and see if the movie leaves itself open for a sequel but it looks like Mark and Brian Gunn, who are brothers with James Gunn, are working on a comic book property soon. Apparently, it's an adaptation of a DC/Vertigo comic.

Sort of…

Yeah, speaking with The Beat, The Gunn Brothers were quoted as saying the following:

"Among other things, we're working on sort of a DC/Vertigo adaptation for New Line that we can't totally talk about it, but it is not a heavy horror idea, I will say that."

Guys, you're either working on a DC/Vertigo adaptation or you're not. How can you "sort of" adopt a comic book? Maybe it will be one of those loose adaptations that manage to capture the spirit of its property without fully adopting it like HBO's Watchmen but we just can't be sure.

The Gunn Brothers did not comment on which comic book they would be adopting but did say that it would not have a horror aesthetic. It looks like the two don't want to be too associated with the genre and don't mind branching off to different ones, which is always nice to see. They say variety is the spice of life after all.

Brightburn is now showing in theaters.
