Black Panther Snubbed Again, This Time by BAFTA

If you thought Black Panther getting snubbed at the Golden Globes was bad, somebody just held the beer of BAFTA. Marvel's highest rated film might have lost to Bohemian Rhapsody for Best Film but it didn't even get that nomination from the awards show, losing to BlacKkKlansman, The Favorite, Green Book, Roma, and A Star is Born. The film was also snubbed by the other categories, aside from special effects, which might be seen as an insult to some.

Admittedly, the movie not getting the nod isn't that bad when you think about it, especially when you consider the subjects films like BlacKkKlansman handles. Still, the fact that it was ignored by other categories is pretty disheartening since this is arguably one of the best Marvel movies ever made. Others might say that Infinity War is better but that film needs other movies to be good, while Black Panther can be watched by itself.

Okay, it's not all bad. Letitia Wright, who plays Shuri in the Black Panther movie, is a finalist for the BAFTA Rising Star Award, which is something. Admittedly, that speaks more to Wright's acting prowess than the movie's quality but she did appear in that film so it's something. Maybe Marvel will do better next year or maybe in the Academy Awards.

There are talks of a Black Panther sequel happening, though nothing has been officially confirmed as of this writing. T'Challa and a number of other heroes are expected to return in Avengers: Endgame, which comes out on April 26.
