Black Adam: Dwayne Johnson Confirms The Film's Writer, Claims The Character Is In His Bones

While not as progressive as Shazam, which has already cast Billy Batson and the titular hero, Black Adam is making some progress. Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, the man who will play the popular anti-hero, went to Twitter to confirm the news that Adam Syztkiel would be the film's writer. Syztkiel is known for writing Alvin and The Chipmunks and Due Date, so it will be interesting to see what he adds to the DCEU film.

Johnson credited the man for co-writing his film Rampage and believes he has the chops to bring the character to the big screen. Superhero films have always had off-the-wall choices for writers/directors, so this should be an interesting choice. The Rock did promise us a gritty and complex anti-hero in his tweet, which is exactly what Black Adam is.

It's clear that the Fast and Furious star is excited to suit up as the character, even going as far to say that the villain is in his bones. Adam does have one of the more interesting backstories in DC, starting out as a slave before becoming a dictator. It's why he constantly butts heads with Shazam and the Justice League.

Rumor has it that we will see Black Adam debut in Suicide Squad 2 before his upcoming film, which should be a really neat cameo. Hopefully, he does more than The Flash did in the first Suicide Squad, but we can't say for sure. Considering how powerful the character is, most of the squad doesn't have a chance against him.

Black Adam currently has no release date. Meanwhile, Shazam is slated for an April 5, 2019, release.
