Batman: The Animated Series is Coming Back as a Comic Book

Batman: The Animated Series is seen by many as the definitive medium to ever feature DC's iconic character and it's hard to deny that. Kevin Conroy, who voiced Batman in this series, is the defacto choice to voice this iconic character whenever a new animated show is announced, with many of us also hearing him when we read our Batman comics. Harley Quinn, who was created for this show, is now one of the most iconic characters in DC Comics and is starring in her own movie, featuring the Birds of Prey.

Well, get ready to explore this world again as Entertainment Weekly has announced Batman: The Adventures Continue, a digital-first comic book series launching in April that will also get collected into single issues, the first of which will be released in May. This new comic will be written by BTAS writer and producer Paul Dini, with art by the incredible Ty Templeton, who drew the comic book tie-in to this series all those years ago.

The Adventures Continue will explore some stories fans have been dying to see, from an encounter with Lex Luthor that acts as a sequel to the World's Finest crossover with Superman: The Animated Series, to Jason Todd and Red Hood. That's right, we're going to see Jason Todd in this universe, something many of us thought we'd never see since they basically reworked Tim Drake to fit that character's mold.

Dini also confirmed that Azrael and Deathstroke will also be appearing in the comics since they never appeared in the show. There's a lot of Batman lore that these guys want to explore and we're more than happy to see them get the chance to do that. You can't say no to good Ty Templeton art.

Batman: The Adventures Continue will launch digitally this April and come to comic stores in physical single issues in May.
